The latest version of cleanDocs offers a new right-click workflow for users of OpenText eDOCS; better handling of hidden rows, columns, and sheets in Excel; improved user-controllable PDF security options and correction of mismatched number/order of Outlook attachments.
Commenting on the release, DocsCorp President and Co-Founder, Dean Sappey, said;
“cleanDocs is relied upon by some of the world’s largest organizations to remove metadata. I am particularly pleased that our commitment to continuing enhancements has delivered the ability to easily secure PDFs to ensure they are not tampered with when they leave the organization. Emailing Excel spreadsheets has typically been a large source of data leakage due to hidden columns of confidential data that the user has forgotten about. cleanDocs’ new ability to watch for and alert users to these areas of the spreadsheet has closed a big security hole.”
cleanDocs enhancements:
- Support for cleaning documents directly from eDOCS DM - A new time-saving workflow allows OpenText eDOCS to right-click on a document directly in the DMS, select ‘Clean with cleanDocs’ and have the cleaned file saved back to the DMS.
- Handling of hidden rows/columns/sheets in Excel - cleanDocs now alerts users when hidden rows, columns or sheets are found in Excel workbooks. Since leaving the data in could be professionally damaging but removing it can be dangerous, cleanDocs prompts the user to convert the files to PDF to ensure it stays hidden.
- User-controllable PDF security - Users can now click the ‘PDF Security’ link on the main cleanDocs window and set privacy and security output options when converting documents to PDF. This will help users limit who has viewing and editing privileges on a case-by-case basis.
- Handling of mismatched number/order of Outlook attachments - This article explains in detail the impact of Microsoft KB patch updates on the mismatched number or order of attachments in Outlook.
