The latest update to compareDocs (4.3 U2) offers two new ways to compare specific text from a Microsoft Word document or any other text source, for that matter. They are Compare Selected Text and Compare Clipboard Text. Below we look at these new workflows in more detail.
How to use Compare Selected Text
See changes made in a particular section of a document using Compare Selected Text. The workflow is simple – once a section of text has been selected, click the new Compare Selected Text icon in the DocsCorp compareDocs ribbon in Word. Compare Selected Text can also be selected by right-clicking text and choosing Compare Selected Text from the drop-down menu.

The Compare Selected Text option sends a Word document – named ‘Selected Text (<Document name>.docx)’ – containing only the selected text to compareDocs, ready to be compared with another Original or Modified document. Once the document is loaded in compareDocs, the first 150 characters of the selected text display in the information icon pop-up.

How to compare Clipboard Text
The Clipboard option creates a Word document containing only the text copied to the clipboard. The clipboard text can be copied from any source including web pages, Microsoft Office files, and emails. Simply copy the text, open compareDocs and select Open > Clipboard.
Copy text to be compared from any source and compareDocs will automatically create a Word document with it, ready to be compared.
Alternatively, users can paste their clipboard text directly in the Original/Modified fields in compareDocs (without selecting the Clipboard option) and a Clipboard text.docx document will automatically be created.
To take advantage of these new workflows simply log into myDocsCorp and update to the latest version of compareDocs. Or, if you aren’t an existing user and want to learn more about the market-leading document comparison tool visit the compareDocs page.
